KTDA works with over 650,000 smallholder tea farmers with a reach of over 3 million community members across the 17 tea growing counties in Kenya. In order to bring about socio-economic transformation for the smallholder tea farmers, the Foundation has a focus on four key themes which are aligned to Vision 2030, Sustainable Development Goals and other international instruments.
The tea value chain is responsible for approximately 26% of the total Kenyan exports with a contribution of about 5% to the country’s GDP. The need for a thriving and resilient smallholder tea subsector underlines the value KTDA and its partners envisions through investing in various sustainability initiatives.
