SUMMARY:Thematic Member Forum - Education in Kenya
DESCRIPTION:Education is a major priority focus area for corporate and private giving. It is also a major pillar for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4) and Kenya’s Vision 2030. The crises sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic revealed systemic gaps in the provision of quality education\, and further entrenched existing inequalities globally and across Kenya. \nIn this virtual forum\, invited experts will share insights on Kenya’s progress against the education sector’s targets\, as part of the country’s overall development agenda. Forum members and guests will engage on key issues in the sector: How can the philanthropy sector complement governments efforts in the education sector? How can we build long term sustainability into education investments? What are the barriers to meeting education targets under the SDGs? How might philanthropy actors intervene strategically in the sector\, and create maximum impact rates of return? Which best practices and innovations are emerging in the education sector? and much more. \n\n\nThis kick off discussion on education will contribute towards informing Impact Philanthropy Africa’s agenda on education . It will also inform how Forum members can collectively engage with the government and other education stakeholders through concrete mechanisms moving forward.\nWatch Recording ▶️\nResources \nAchieving Quality\, Equitable\, Inclusive Education In Kenya – Zizi Afrique\nImproving Learning Outcomes At Scale: A Regional Perspective – RTI International\nSafaricom Foundation Accelerated Learning Program With Zizi Afrique – Bungoma\nThe Family Group Foundation Scholarships\nKCB Foundation Scholars Mentorship Program\nKengen Foundation Education Scholarships\nM-PESA Foundation Academy\nTayari: Getting Children Ready For School In Kenya\nGertrude’s Children’s Hospital Training School\nI&M Bank Foundation Scholarships Program\nKenya National Education Sector Strategic Plan 2018 – 2022

SUMMARY:Inaugural Virtual Conference: Building Back Better: Growing Philanthropy through Corporate Social Investing (CSI) in Kenya
DESCRIPTION:The crises sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic spurred African philanthropists to give more (seven times the annual average in prior decade)\, and to give through different vehicles. We are shifting into a new era for philanthropy\, and corporate social investment\, in Kenya as well. To fully capitalize on the catalytic impact CSI can create\, we need a supportive regulatory and policy investment. In the inaugural event by Impact Philanthropy Africa\, key thought leaders across policy\, research and funding will share their perspective on the state of the sector\, and emerging opportunities to scale corporate giving. The virtual conference will be a launchpad to co-create the Forum’s advocacy priorities over the next year. \nResources & Handouts \nBRINGING FOUNDATIONS AND GOVERNMENTS: EVIDENCE FROM KENYA\nA Review Of The TAX POLICY ENVIRONMENT FOR PHILANTHROPY IN EAST AFRICA\nCatalyzing Local Philanthropy in Kenya\nTrusts And Foundation Law A New Dawn\nFor Africa By Africa – Harnessing The Power Of African Giving And African-Led Institutions In Championing Africa’s Development Agenda\nPolitical And Economic Situational Analysis Of Kenya’s Philanthropic Landscape\nInaugural Virtual Conference: Building Back Better: Growing Philanthropy Through CSI In Kenya Recording\nPhotos\nImpact Philanthropy Africa Forum Profile\nConference Report
